Inclement Weather?

See our Snow Policy here. The same goes for all types of inclement weather.

Snow Policy

Cave Ridge Farm in the Snow - 19 Dec 2009

Cave Ridge Farm in the Snow - 19 Dec 2009

With all the snow and talk of snow, we’ve been asked about our snow policy.

Here it is: We’ll be here. If you can make it, great! If not, no worries. Just give us a call as soon as you know you won’t be able to make it and we’ll be happy to reschedule.

Weather conditions can vary widely throughout the region and we understand that some folks might be snowed in while others have no difficulty getting out and about. . . .

We definitely don’t want you to feel like you’re risking life and limb to make your appointment!

Be well, stay warm and enjoy the snow!

“Snow Day” by Billy Collins

Today we woke up to a revolution of snow,
its white flag waving over everything,
the landscape vanished,
not a single mouse to punctuate the blankness,
and beyond these windows

Welcome to AMMA’s home on the Web!  Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox are the preferred browsers for viewing this site.

We’re in the process of transitioning to a Wordpress.org website.  Background formatting is a little funky in this “Home” section. It looks right in Google Chrome and Firefox, but the margins are funny in Internet Explorer. We’re working on resolving this issue. If you have a *.php or *.css fix for Internet Explorer, please let us know!

Thank you for your patience!

Family Time - Reduce Stress and Enjoy Your Time With Family

By Ellen R. Norman

Family time can be defined in many ways, depending on your lifestyle, and who or what you consider as family. Most people define family as spouse and/or children. But for some it could be the cherished pets. And still for others their closest friends.

We are generally social ‘animals’ with a ‘herd-tribe’ mentality. We need the ‘herd’ to survive. This togetherness is very important and gives us a sense of completeness and security. When we are unable to prioritize our time, energy, or thoughts towards these important entity’s, we get stressed, worried and anxious.

Of course the first priority on your list is for yourself, yes, you. Your health and wellbeing must be maintained, before you can give to others. Remember you ‘ must have your cup of energy filled before you can give to others’. When you are wasted, tired, depressed and otherwise stressed out, you are a hindrance rather then a help to your family.

Are You Stressed-Out? De-Clutter Your Brain

By Mike Hughes

I have a program on my computer called System Mechanic, which I run about once a month.

Every time I run it, it tells me what’s wrong with my computer and also how much clutter is on my system.

Well, when I ran it this month it said,

“YOU HAVE 288 MEGABYTES OF CLUTTER”.

This I Believe . . .

One of my favorite tea mugs has a painting of a cat on it, with the words “What people really need is a good listening to.” Not a day goes by that I am not reminded of how true this is. If only it were as easy to apply that principle across the board! . . . . Dr. Alicia Conill emphasizes the importance of listening in healthcare - indeed in our lives as a whole. She says, “Listening to someone’s story costs less than expensive diagnostic testing but is key to healing and diagnosis.” Hers is a loving reminder to us all of the importance of taking time and being in relationship.

Alicia Conill

The text of her essay for This I Belive is reproduced below. Listen to her read it at NPR.org.

According to thisibelieve.org,

This I Believe is an international project engaging people in writing, sharing, and discussing the core values that guide their daily lives. These short statements of belief, written by people from all walks of life, are archived here and featured on public radio in the United States and Canada, as well as in regular broadcasts on NPR. The project is based on the popular 1950s radio series of the same name hosted by Edward R. Murrow.
